Your chat runs adsThe reward hides during the ad cooldown, and failed redemptions are refunded — with a max length, minimum gap and kill switch you control.
What the permission actually covers
Twitch's consent screen will say the app can "run commercials on
your channel." That's this and only this.
It can
- start an ad break (
channel:edit:commercial)
- read your ad schedule (
channel:read:ads), only to tell chat how long the cooldown has left
- create and manage one channel point reward (
channel:manage:redemptions) — optional, so it can pause the reward during the ad cooldown and refund redemptions that can't run
It cannot
- change your title, category or tags
- read or send chat messages
- see or touch your stream key
Disconnecting from the dashboard revokes the grant and deletes everything stored.
